Direttore Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) BRICS Research Centre

Dirige il Centro di ricerca sui BRICS dello Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in Sudafrica. Economista, si occupa di politiche economiche di sviluppo con riferimento alla finanza pubblica, politica fiscale, commercio e investimenti, relazioni fiscali intergovernative e finanziamenti infrastrutturali mirati allo sviluppo sostenibile, alla disuguaglianza, alla disoccupazione e alla povertà. È stato a capo del gruppo di esperti del Think Tank sui BRICS del Sudafrica (SABTT) dell’HSRC che ha preparato le indicazioni del BRICS Think Tank Council’s (BTTC), “Verso una strategia a lungo termine per i BRICS”, che è stata approvata dal sesto Vertice dei Capi di Stato BRICS a Fortaleza, in Brasile nel luglio 2014. È stato docente presso il Dipartimento di Economia e la Scuola di governo dell’University of the Western Cape; il primo coordinatore del Gruppo di ricerca macroeconomica (MERG) in Sud Africa e il primo direttore dell’Istituto nazionale di politica economica (NIEP). È stato anche direttore dell’unità Sviluppo economico dei servizi presso Ernst and Young e, successivamente, è diventato vice presidente e capo della ricerca della Commissione finanziaria e fiscale del Sud Africa (FFC). È attivo nel think tank BRICS del Sud Africa e nel forum accademico e ha guidato la partecipazione del HSRS al Centro di ricerca BRICS nel gruppo di esperti del G20 (T20). 
È stato membro del Consiglio di Statistica del Sud Africa, del comitato accademico dell’International Monetary Institute (IMI), della Renmin University di Pechino, e del comitato accademico del Centro per Internet Finance and Innovation (CIFI), Academy for Internet Finance (AIF) Università di Zhejiang, Hangzhou.

Jaya Josie is the Head of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) BRICS Research Centre, South Africa.  He is an economist in development economic policy research in public finance, fiscal policy, trade and investment, intergovernmental fiscal relations, and infrastructure finance targeting sustainable development, inequality, unemployment and poverty. He led the HSRC South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT) team that prepared the BRICS Think Tank Council’s (BTTC) recommendation, “Towards a Long Term Strategy for BRICS”, that was endorsed by the Sixth BRICS Heads of State Summit in Fortaleza Brazil in July 2014. He was a lecturer in the Department of Economics and the School of Government at the University of the Western Cape; the first coordinator of the Macroeconomic Research Group (MERG) in South Africa, and the first Director of the National Institute of Economic Policy (NIEP) of South Africa. He was also the director of the Development Economic Services unit at Ernst and Young, South Africa, and subsequently became the Deputy Chairperson and head of research of the South African Financial & Fiscal Commission (FFC). He is active in the South African BRICS Think Tank and Academic Forum, and led the HSRC BRICS Research Centre participation in the G20 think tank group (T20).  He was a member of the Statistics Council of South Africa, the academic committee of the International Monetary Institute (IMI), Renmin University Beijing, and the academic committee of the Centre for Internet Finance and Innovation (CIFI), Academy for Internet Finance (AIF) Zhejiang University, Hangzhou.
