The Deputy General Director of Public Security – Central Director of the Criminal Police, Prefect Vittorio Rizzi, and the President of Eurispes, Professor Gian Maria Fara, signed this morning a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at implementing the collaboration between the Direction of the Criminal Police (the inter-force body including Italian National Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and Penitentiary Police), and Eurispes (Institute of Political, Economic and Social Studies).
Sharing the same objectives of analysis and research, the MoU signed today will allow Eurispes and the Criminal Analysis Service to conduct sector researches, studies and joint investigations on the various criminal phenomena, drawing on their respective information assets.
Moreover, cultural, publishing projects and training initiatives will be promoted – also open for third parties – in order to share their respective knowledge with the actors operating in the sector and, in particular, with the Police Forces, supporting its mission of an increasingly effective action of prevention and fight against crime.
Prefect Rizzi highlighted the importance of a systematic exchange among the Police Forces and the civil society in all its forms, but also in between the social, economic and academic world. This comparison is even more urgent for those areas whose mission is inspired by the culture of intelligence, such as the Criminal Analysis Service. Thanks to the continuous interchange with the world of research, it is possible to early grasp the signs of change in society that, whenever identified, constitutes the unfailing prerequisite for orienting the strategic and operational action of law enforcement.
Professor Fara emphasized the need to “teamwork” in the fight against criminal phenomena and the importance of this Protocol which follows the path of dialogue and the fruitful exchange of data and information between public and private agencies. And this in the firm belief that, in order to face a society in growing evolution, it is necessary not to succumb to simplifications but to face its phenomena through an interdisciplinary and complex interpretation.
