Measuring Corruption: meeting within the framework of the Global Programme on Measuring Corruption as promoted by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA)
On September 21, Eurispes hosted an important in-depth meeting on the topic of measuring corruption. The event brought together institutional, academic and private sector representatives involved in the “Global Programme on Measuring Corruption” promoted by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
The event comes as a follow-up to the activities of the G20 ACWG (Anti-corruption Working Group) with particular reference to the Compendium of Good Practices on Measuring Corruption that the Forum adopted during the Italian Presidency in 2021. The working group was able to share information and some practices, with a focus on the Italian context, on corruption measurement in view of future research collaborations on the topic.
As highlighted by the President of Eurispes, Prof. Gian Maria Fara, in his introductory speech, the Institute – which published in 2018 a research on the perception of corruption and the effects of this representation (https://eurispes.eu/news/eurispes-comunicato-ricerca-corruzione-tra-realta-e-rappresentazione/) – joins the initiative with keen interest and thus pursues its research commitment on the topic of corruption and its measurement.
Speakers included: Giovanni Tartaglia Polcini, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and member of the Eurispes Scientific Committee and Observatory on Security; Mauro Orefice, President of the Court of Auditors; Prof. Liz Barret, IACA; Prof. Aoife Murray, IACA; Lorenza Ponzone, ANAC; Giuseppe Abbatino, ANAC; Colonel Paolo Frascarello, Ministry of the Interior-Police Force Coordination and Planning Office; Prof. Fabrizio Zucca (Bocconi University of Milan); Prof. Marina Aniki Eiva, Bocconi University of Milan; Virginia Intorcia (Global Risk Profile): Nicolas Passas, Global Risk Profile.
