Eurispes signs a Memorandum of Understanding to bring Sardinia closer to Unesco
Eurispes, together with the Eurispes Sardegna and the social promotion association ‘APS La Sardegna verso l’Unesco’ have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding and collaboration, with the aim of supporting the candidature of the Nuragic Civilisation Monuments to the Unesco World Heritage List and enhancing the Nuragic Civilisation itself for the economic development of Sardinia.
The overall mission of the association “Sardinia towards Unesco” is to publicise and promote the Nuragic Civilisation as an element of identity recognition for all Sardinians and as a framework for economic development, through the valorisation of its monuments, spread throughout the whole of Sardinia. This requires the support of national and international study and political, economic and social research organisations. Moreover, Eurispes has always counted among its aims the support of policies for the protection, preservation and sustainable development of territories, particularly those with greater social and economic hardship.
The signatories of the Protocol, in the persons of the President of Eurispes, Prof. Gian Maria Fara, the Director of Eurispes Sardegna, Avv. Gerolamo Balata, and the President of “APS La Sardegna verso l’Unesco”, Dr. Pierpaolo Vargiu, have undertaken to support the candidature application for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List of “Barumini and the Monuments of the Nuragic Civilisation of Sardinia” and to plan and share actions and paths aimed at the approval of the application. They also undertake to support political and territorial initiatives involving Sardinian and Italian institutions and associations with the aim of raising the awareness of the Sardinian and national communities to the design of protecting and enhancing the cultural, monumental, landscape and economic heritage of Sardinia.
