Eurispes at the Euro-Mediterranean Metalworkers’ Trade Union Conference

The 5th Euro-Mediterranean Permanent Conference, promoted by the Italian union FIM-CISL and the Turkish union Türk Metal, is being held today and tomorrow 15 October in Istanbul. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the processes of profound change underway in a strategic sector for development such as the metalworking industry, to imagine possible future scenarios, and to build necessary, useful synergies between the main growth players. The Secretary General of Eurispes, Marco Ricceri, was entrusted with the keynote speech of the session dedicated to the impact of green and digital transitions, and the spread of tools related to the evolution of Artificial Intelligence: Digital Green Transitions and Artificial Intelligence. What are the Challenges for the Euro-Mediterranean Industry?

In particular, the Eurispes Institute will present the results of the research carried out on the evolution of skills in the world of work, their upgrading and updating to be promoted urgently and with a joint effort of public and private operators, also according to the guidelines of the European Pact for Skills, promoted by trade unions, employers, public authorities, training bodies and employment agencies – an action plan which is also accompanied by a Charter outlining a shared vision on quality training.

The first European skills pacts covered the automotive, microelectronics, aerospace and defence sectors. A quality vision of the Mediterranean metal industry must have skills at its core in order to meet the challenges of the future. The session will feature speeches by: Natale Forlani, President of the National Institute for Public Policy Analysis (INAPP), Sergeyus Glovackas, ILO Geneva, Head of the ACTRAV Directorate for Europe and Central Asia, Mattia Pirulli, Confederal Secretary of the CISL, Kemal Özkan, Deputy Secretary General of the International IndustriALL Global Union, Elisabetta Gualmini, MEP.
