Eurispes among the world’s leading ‘independent’ research institutes
Again this year the Institute is included in the study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report
Also in the 2020 edition, Eurispes has been included in the ranking of the most important institutes in the world in the list of centers of excellence defined as “independent” – “Best Independent Think Tanks”.
The Report on Studies and Research Institutes identified as centers of excellence at international level is published annually by the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and drawn up based on the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP).
The 2020 Report, published on January 28, 2021 and now reaching its 15th edition, operates the selection on a database of 11,175 study and research centers and has been developed on the basis of the indications and information collected by about 4000 experts from all over the world and addressed to the American University during 2020. The selection was conducted by expert panels distributed across the five continents, in 85 states, divided by geographical areas and areas of competence, following a very articulated and rigorous scientific methodology as illustrated in the introductory pages of the Report.
A result achieved thanks to Eurispes international projection, operating for years in close liaison with the most important universities and international research centers.
The European and international initiatives promoted-participated-organized by Eurispes have been conceived including a much broader commitment to collaboration then just exchanges of information, news and documents between research and study institutes; instead, these activities have led the Institute to be an active part in the establishment of permanent European Networks, partnerships, collaboration and project agreements, aimed at approaching the strategic issues of the contemporary economic and social development from a systemic and multidisciplinary perspective. The effectiveness of the path taken is also confirmed by one of the most positive results achieved in the latest years thanks to those international activities: the direct and active participation in the Eurispes Scientific Committee of foreign experts of remarkable scientific and cultural background from partner universities, institutions and studies and research institutes and centers.
To be mentioned as well the input of two Laboratories, on BRICS and on Europe “Europa Plus”, set up for a continuous, systemic and multidisciplinary analysis and monitoring of particularly relevant and/or outstandingly new thematic areas emerging during the Institute’s research activities. With this initiative, Eurispes connects and acts in accordance with the guidelines on the best practices of the scientific world approved by the United Nations with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2015), specifically with the related SCIENCE-Policy Interface SPI–Program, on the relationship between the scientific world and decision-makers, the combination of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approach, the ethical responsibility of the scientific world, the crucial role of complex systems analysis and the conception of scenarios related to the transformative processes characterizing the contemporary society.
In addition, the Institute plays, at a national level, an important role in informing and orientating the public opinion of the country, by the production of knowledge, data and analysis related to the various social phenomena, as well as engaging in an exercise of continuous dissemination. Far in advance, thanks to its intense work of social scouting, the Institute signals phenomena that will afterwards assume a strong centrality in the social and economic debate.
Finally, with the recent establishment of an Observatory on International Issues, Eurispes aims to study the evolution of the international relations system and particularly the current relations among the most relevant state and non-state organizations, in the mainframe of the globalization process and following the global governance patterns.
The President of Eurispes, Gian Maria Fara, explains: “The recognition that comes to Eurispes from the University of Pennsylvania confirms the role that the Institute has been able to build with constant commitment over the years, and with a particular focus at an increasingly international dimension that has evolved thanks to network connections, exchange of information and collaboration with other centers such as ours, together with prestigious universities worldwide.
Precisely the term “independent” define the essence of Eurispes, its ability to maintain intact, in almost forty years of activity, its own strong identity and to confirm itself as a place of confrontation and convergence of different cultures».
