Eurispes receives ENPA Awards – Premio San Francesco. First edition held in Assisi on World Animal Day
On the occasion of World Animal Day, on 4 October 2026 in Assisi, the Ente Nazionale Protezione Animali (ENPA, Italy’s national animal protection organisation) will hold the first edition of the ENPA Awards – Premio San Francesco, an honour dedicated to individuals and organisations that, in their respective fields, have distinguished themselves through a concrete and significant commitment to animals, to their protection and to the promotion of a culture founded on respect and responsibility.
ENPA has chosen to present Eurispes with one of the awards of the first edition of the ENPA Awards – Premio San Francesco, in recognition of the painstaking and invaluable research through which, in its Rapporto Italia (Italy Report), it has for years been investigating the relationship between Italians and animals, recording its developments, patterns of behaviour and shifts in sensibility. Honouring Eurispes also means recognising the value of research as an instrument of protection: because making a change measurable means making it visible, and giving society and the institutions the tools to understand it and to identify effective policies.
The Award will be collected by the President of Eurispes, Gian Maria Fara.
Other recipients include the Vigili del Fuoco (Italy’s national fire and rescue service), the Arma dei Carabinieri and the Italian Red Cross. The honour will also go to Carla Rocchi, former national president of ENPA, Cristina Cattaneo of LabAnOF at the University of Milan, Francesca Sorcinelli, president of Link-Italia, and the Fondazione Giorgio Armani, together with other individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves through their commitment.
