International conference of the European SUPI Network on social precarity
On Friday March 24th, from 1pm to 5pm, the international conference entitled “Routinization of the crisis mode in our societies. New elements of a New structural and widespread Precariousnes”.
The topic will be addressed in the annual video conference of the experts of the European Network “SUPI – Social Uncertainty, Precarity, Inequalities”, of which Eurispes is a founding member. The SUPI Network is a European research group, recognised by the EU, founded in 2007 to conduct systemic analysis and develop recommendations on issues of social precarity. The Network follows a working method open to the contribution of experts from various disciplines and carries out regular consultations. The Network is coordinated by sociologist Prof. Rolf Hepp of the Freie University of Berlin, who is also a member of the Scientific Committee of Eurispes.
The spread of an ever-increasing social precariousness has now become an evident phenomenon in the current structures of contemporary society, a phenomenon that experts do not hesitate to describe as “structural”. The implications of this process, which involves the most diverse spheres of our civil coexistence – from work to family life, from youth orientations to the values and reference culture of individuals and communities – are very relevant for the prospects of future progress, such as to require responsible and in-depth assessments and organic and adequate intervention policies.
On this occasion, Eurispes will present a report on the value and limits of the “Social Taxonomy”, the document regulating social policies that the EU is defining in order to direct the solution of the serious problems of widespread social precariousness in the member states to the objectives of sustainable development.
