The working agenda of the forthcoming meetings will address five major thematic areas that correspond to as many open issues in the European integration process: (a) political Europe, for the positioning of the European Union in the international scenario and in the global economic framework, with a particular focus on the major challenges related to the current structural changes such as climate, migrations and demographic trends; (b) the Europe of Institutions, where the theme of “differentiated integration” will be addressed, also referring to the project of political enlargement of the EU proposed by French President Macron, in order to promote a more active role of the EU in international institutions (the UN foremost); c) economic Europe, for an analytical discussion on the reform of the Stability Pact and the new forms of financing European investments, together with the open issue of European common goods; d) social Europe, a major focus of Carmelo Cedrone’s work, which recalls the need to reflect on and formulate responses to the great imbalances between European countries, to inequalities in the labour market, in training, in social issues, and in immigration/accommodation; e) finally, the Europe of energy, in view of the diversification of energy supply made necessary by the events in Ukraine.
