Italy-Africa development and logistics, The Eurispes researcher Emanuele Oddi at the ‘A bridge to Africa’ Forum

On 14 and 15 November 2024, the international forum ‘A Bridge to Africa’ will be held in La Spezia, at the Auditorium Bucchioni in via Fossamastra, 16. The forum will consist of a series of events dedicated to relations and possible developments in relations between Africa and Italy, with the aim of exploring logistical relations and partnerships between our country and the African economy. In addition to the growth in trade due to population growth, Africa is adding to its traditional strengths in agriculture and raw materials with the beginning of industrialisation. In this context, Italy is seeking to strengthen its position with the Mattei Plan, resulting in the importance of maritime and air logistics between Italy and Africa and the need to seize development opportunities not only in transporting goods and passengers, but also in creating useful relationships for the exchange of services, skills and growth opportunities.
Emanuele Oddi, analyst and researcher at Eurispes, will take part as a speaker in the panel scheduled for 14 November at 9.45 a.m. entitled “African economies and trade with Italy”, with a speech entitled “How is the African economy doing”. Emanuele Oddi will be joined on the panel by Filippo Simonelli, junior researcher at the Istituto Affari Internazionali, and Andrea De Meo, Sace analyst. The day will continue with a panel devoted to the Mattei Plan, with speeches by Antonio Gozzi, head of the Mattei Plan at Confindustria, and Gabriella Severi, head of external relations for Simest.
Two round tables dedicated to Italian Logistics for Africa are scheduled for 15 November, with particular reference to the maritime clusters of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara. The event is organised by Clickutility Team and International Propellers Clubs, and promoted by institutional partners such as the City of La Spezia, the Port System Authority of Eastern Liguria – Ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, and Confindustria La Spezia. The full programme is available on the event’s official website.
