Eurispes launch of the Permanent Observatory on International Issues chaired by Ambassador Giampiero Massolo

Eurispes’ Permanent Observatory
on International Issues is born

Eurispes established the Permanent Observatory on International Issues, entrusting its presidency to Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, President of Fincantieri and ISPI, former Secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director general of the Department of Information for Security.

The Observatory can count on the contribution of a Scientific Committee with authoritative representatives from the academic world, institutions and civil society who have joined the project, ensuring the contribution of their expertise in the different fields of action.

The Observatory’s aim is to study the evolution of the international relations system, with a special focus on the trends currently underway in the relations between the main state and non-state actors, in the globalisation process and world governance models.

Particular attention will be paid to the assessment of Italy’s national interest and the need to redefine and promote it as circumstances change, thus placing an italocentric emphasis on the issues to be addressed.

The Observatory intends to develop studies and analyses in connection with the public administrations concerned and the most important Italian and international research institutes and universities, through in-depth thematic studies of current and prospective interest and through meetings and comparisons to be held periodically.

Moreover, the Observatory will edit a specific section of the next edition of the Eurispes Italy Report devoted to international issues.

«The creation of this new Observatory, in accordance with the international projection built up over the years by the Institute – comments Eurispes’ President, Prof. Gian Maria Fara –, will allow us to produce increasingly in-depth analyses on the role of Italy and its positioning at a global level. The Observatory, under the leadership of Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, will immediately become an essential point of reference for the Italian and European political and institutional system».
