“A gap must be filled and the sea must be included in the Constitution, alongside the islands, calling for its protection and enhancement”. Video-intervention
«Italy is not at the centre of the Mediterranean, as it is often said, nor is it like the other countries bordering it. This is a dyscrasia. We are the Mediterranean, we are the major shareholders. Politicians, institutions and citizens must understand the importance of the sea and the islands in order to protect and enhance them at the same time, as a priceless asset of the country. The time has come to fill a gap: to include the sea, alongside the islands, in our Constitution, calling for its protection and enhancement». This is one of the key points that emerged in the speech by Prof. Aldo Berlinguer, President of the Eurispes Observatory on Insularity, (available online at ), at the first Sea Resource Forum promoted by The European House – Ambrosetti in collaboration with the Minister for Civil Protection and Sea Policies, Nello Musumeci, and with the patronage of the Prime Minister’s Office.
