Women against the tide-presentation of Claudio Barnini’s book with a preface by Gian Maria Fara, President of Eurispes
On Wednesday 7 April, at 6.30 p.m., there will be a presentation of the book by the journalist Claudio Barnini entitled ‘Donne contro corrente – cronache di leadership al femminile‘ (‘Women against the current – chronicles of female leadership‘), with a preface by Gian Maria Fara, President of Eurispes, who emphasises: ‘Although Italian men are increasingly used to sharing the burden of domestic work with women and, even more importantly, taking care of their children, women continue to shoulder greater burdens, making sacrifices to compensate for the country’s structural weakness. In the early 2000s, Eurispes described them as ‘acrobats’, constantly balancing work and family care.
As Barnini recalls: “data in hand, women are a value, an asset, a commodity. Companies that have at least 15% women sitting at the top of their boards produce 15.3% higher profits. The women presence in work teams has positive effects on company performance: it creates a company environment characterised by well-being, it strengthens business, it introduces soft skills such as communication and empathy. It brings creativity and lateral thinking’.
