The Italian PA does not cost more than in other European countries (2007)
Italy spends less on civil servants’ salaries than Germany, which is much larger than Italy, but also than France and the United Kingdom, which have roughly the same number of inhabitants as Italy.
In fact, Italians spend more than Germans and Spaniards on civil servants, but less than all other European countries. In particular, they spend less than half as much as Luxembourg and Denmark. A very interesting fact emerges from a comparison of the net salaries of public employees in some European countries. Looking at Countries that are similar to Italy in terms of population and territory, large differences emerged in the average net salaries of public employees.
