10th National Report on the Condition of Childhood and Adolescence (2009)
Eurispes and Telefono Azzurro present the 10th National Report on the Condition of Childhood and Adolescence. Since 2000, through the ten editions published every year, the Report has been a valid tool for understanding the main transformations, trends, potentials and risks that characterise the developmental age in our Country. The presentation of the Report’s results is the first of a series of initiatives organised on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, aimed not only at stimulating reflection on the rights of children and adolescents and on the state of implementation of this important Convention but also at promoting an ever greater diffusion of the culture of rights within our society.
The 40 factsheets that make up the Report explore macro-themes ranging from abuse and discomfort to health, from the use of the new media to the main changes occurred modifying certain behaviours of the relevant actors of sense and orientation such as family and school, but also places of culture and leisure.
The two major surveys carried out in schools involved about 2,500 children and young people in 33 schools of all levels. The Identikit of the Child was drawn up using a questionnaire administered to children aged between 7 and 11, attending the third, fourth and fifth year of primary school and the first year of secondary school. The Identikit of the Adolescent, on the other hand, collected the orientations of 12-19-year-olds, attending the second and third class of secondary school or one of the five classes of secondary school. The questionnaires analysed were 1,090 for childhood and 1,373 for adolescence.
